Why Land Man Season 2 Update Leaves Fans Disappointed Amid Yellowstone Drama

Taylor Sheridan has taken the TV world by storm in the past few years, but the future of his latest series, Landman, is unknown, which is worrying, given Yellowstone‘s status. Sheridan’s TV shows have received praise from critics and viewers alike, which includes Yellowstone and Landman. The latter series has a 78 percent score on the Tomatometer on Rotten Tomatoes and is consistently on Paramount+’s Top TV Shows chart. However, recent comments from one of the drama’s cast members raise some concerns regarding whether Landman will return for a second season once its first ends in early 2025.

Landman follows Billy Bob Thornton’s Tommy Norris, a landman at a large oil company in West Texas. The rest of the Paramount+ TV show’s cast includes other big names, such as Jon Hamm as Monty Miller, Demi Moore as Cami Miller, and Ali Larter as Angela Norris, while Jacob Lofland and Michelle Randolph star as Tommy and Angela’s children. Together, they all play a group of dysfunctional characters, just like any other Sheridan series. Halfway through Landman season 1, the show’s plot is as complex as ever, and it might need a second season to tell its characters’ full stories.

Landman Season 2’s Future Is Uncertain

Jacob Lofland Addressed The Status Of Landman Season 2

Unfortunately, Paramount+ hasn’t renewed Landman for a second season, as of the writing of this article. Perhaps the streaming service is waiting until after the finale to decide or announce the TV show’s fate, but in the meantime, everything is up in the air. Cooper actor Jacob Lofland addressed the uncertainty surrounding Landman season 2 during an interview with Screen Rant. Regarding the series’ future, Lofland shared:

“Completely unofficial, I can’t say yay or nay, and I have no idea. All I can say is I hope, more than anything, that we go back to working as quick as we can on it, because it’s a blast, and I love making it, and I think this story needs to be told, and I think people are going to love it … So I’ve just been so curious, waiting on Taylor [Sheridan]. Hopefully, we get to season 2, and start reading and see what’s in store for Cooper.”

While Lofland’s comments might be disheartening, they also don’t give a definitive answer, leaving the door open for optimism concerning Landman season 2. So, it could still happen. Lofland, along with other Landman actors, have expressed hope for more episodes once season 1 ends. For now, though, fans just have to be patient and wait and see what the future holds for the Billy Bob Thornton drama series. The bad news is that Landman isn’t the only show whose fate is unknown.

The Future Of Taylor Sheridan’s Yellowstone Is Currently Confusing

Yellowstone Season 6 Might Still Happen

Unfortunately, the futures of other TV shows in the Sheridanverse, like Yellowstone, are also uncertain. Following Kevin Costner’s exit from Yellowstone, Paramount canceled the neo-Western drama, meaning it was set to end after season 5. However, the season 5 finale was marketed as just that, a season finale instead of a series finale. Consequently, it seems as if Yellowstone season 6 might be in the cards. One other update continues to make the show’s status confusing, though.
