Mo Brings Plenty Spin-Off Is On The Way?! Taylor Sheridan’s Next Big Move!
Is Mo Brings Plenty the unsung hero of Yellowstone? He might be…
With the amount of Yellowstone projects, prequels and spinoffs that Taylor Sheridan is working on, I always thought it would be cool to tell Mo’s story.
The right hand man of Broken Rock Tribe leader Thomas Rainwater’s (Gil Birmingham), Mo (played by Mo Brings Plenty) starts out as just a driver and bodyguard, but as the the series moves on, he becomes a significant player in the story and one who ultimately ends up as major piece who helps Kayce in transferring the Dutton Ranch back to the Native American people.
He’s thoughtful and patient, yet strong and confident, Mo is essentially the Rip Wheeler (Cole Hauser) of the reservation, except with a more skill, grace and finesse.
We see him rescue Monica Dutton (Kelsey Asbille), help in the raid to rescue Tate, he wrangled up Checkers to deliver him to John, and towards the end of the series, becomes a trusted friend to Kayce Dutton (Luke Grimes). He helped Kayce through his vision quest, helps him scare the living hell out of the assassin in the second to last episode “Counting Coup,” and then at the very end, he’s scolds the people for knocking over the Dutton family graves… helping to preserve their legacy… he’s just all-around awesome character.
And while Taylor Sheridan and Paramount are giving this thing the whole Star Wars – Disney treatment, making series after series about anything and everything, Mo’s story would be one of the most interesting to tell.
And Yellowstone fans are begging for it:
“If anyone should get a spinoff, it should be Mo! Would love to know his backstory!
“I feel like both “Yellowstone” Mo and the actor would have some amazing stories about the Native American life & culture.”
“He ended up being one of my favorites. I really appreciated the relationship he developed with Kayce.”
“My favorite character in the show, hands down.”
“Did Mo even have a bad scene”
I loved Mo. The strong silent killer.”
In spite of how good Costner is at selling his characters as the only moral compass in most of his projects, It didn’t work in this case. Mo brings Plenty occupies that position.”
“Mo is the man and I will beat that drum all day!”
“I love Mo”
“He must have quite a bit of backpain from carrying the whole dang show last season.”
“He is one of my favorite characters!”
“Show would be significantly less without him.”
Make it happen Taylor… make it happen.
Here’s a quick look at every Yellowstone Universe series that Taylor Sheridan has cooking…
1923 Season 2
It took a long time but just the other day, it was finally announced that 1923 Season 2 will officially premiere on Paramount+ on February 23rd.
Lion hunter, adventurer, lady killer and all-around bad*ss, Spencer Dutton, is making his way back home to Montana from Africa, and once he arrives, all hell is going to break loose as he tries to help the Dutton family save the ranch from those two scoundrels, Donald Whitfield and Banner Creighton.
It’s gonna be EPIC.
The Madison
Paramount has confirmed that the new, modern day spinoff series will star Michelle Pfeiffer and will be called The Madison, and it will also feature Patrick J Adams, Elle Chapman and Beau Garrett.
The series has been described as a “heartfelt study of grief and human connection following a New York City family in the Madison River valley of central Montana.”
1944 Prequel
Paramount has confirmed that another Yellowstone prequel series is in the works, titled 1944. Based on the timeline of the show, 1944 should chronicle the story of John Dutton’s (Kevin Costner) father, John Dutton II and his journey to carry forward the Dutton empire amid the trying times of World War II. There has also been conversation about a ’60s era prequel as well.
Modern Day Spinoff
Paramount has also previously announced a contemporary spinoff series, that was initially rumored to star Matthew McConaughey, with the working title of 2024. Of course, with 2024 nearing its end, that definitely won’t be the title, and my hunch as that the modern day spinoff series will be focused around the 6666’s Ranch… a spinoff that has been talked about for awhile.
It could potentially star some of the original cast of Yellowstone, to carry forward the modern day Dutton story. If I was a betting man, I’d say Jefferson White’s character Jimmy could be the star?
Rip & Beth Spinoff
It’s been confirmed that Cole Hauser and Kelly Reilly will be reprising their roles as Rip Wheeler and Beth Dutton in a spinoff series that will essentially carry forward the Yellowstone story. Other members of the original cast are expected to be on board as well, but it’s not confirmed if this is the expected “modern day spinoff” that has been discussed by Paramount (mentioned above), but my guess is that the show might be taking place down at the 6666’s Ranch. Since plans for the contemporary spinoff was announced a long time ago, it’s unclear if there will be 2 separate spinoff shows, or if they’ll just parlay the ideas into one concept.
Stay tuned… there’s a lot to be excited about if you’re a Yellowstone fan.
