‘Yellowstone’ Is Finally Back With 6 MORE Episodes: Here’s the Streaming Premiere Date
The final six episodes of Yellowstone are heading to Peacock. A streaming premiere date has been announced for Season 5, Part 2, which concluded on Paramount Network back in December.
Season 5, Part 2 is the only season of Yellowstone to not feature Kevin Costner’s John Dutton, who was unceremoniously killed off in the premiere episode, “Desire Is All You Need.” John Dutton’s death was written into the final episodes after Costner chose not to return, with both creative differences and scheduling issues among the reasons why the actor couldn’t film any scenes as the beloved patriarch.
Despite Costner’s absence, the final season of Yellowstone was a ratings success, with “Desire Is All You Need” attracting the largest first-night audience in Yellowstone‘s history with 16.4 million viewers, while 11.4 million viewers tuned in to Paramount Network and CMT for the series finale, “Life Is a Promise.”
The mothership series may have ended, but Yellowstone isn’t going anywhere. A new spinoff series is in the works, with Kelly Reilly and Cole Hauser attached to reprise their respective roles from Yellowstone as fan-favorite couple Beth Dutton and Rip Wheeler. Franchise creator Taylor Sheridan is working on the spinoff, which, unlike the other franchise extensions, will carry Yellowstone in the title.
Hauser alluded to the spinoff in December 2024, saying, “We will see what happens over the next year or so and we’ll see what’s next. Hopefully, we can continue to get in people’s living rooms and entertain them the way we have over the last seven years. For me, to be able to do that, to educate people, enlighten and entertain them is always the dream.”
Yellowstone fans also have the second season of 1923, starring Harrison Ford and Helen Mirren, to look forward to on Feb. 23. “A cruel winter brings new challenges and unfinished business to Jacob and Cara back at Dutton ranch.
With harsh conditions and adversaries threatening to end the Dutton legacy, Spencer embarks on an arduous journey home, racing against time to save his family in Montana. Meanwhile, Alexandra sets off on her own harrowing trans-Atlantic journey to find Spencer and reclaim their love,” reads the Season 2 synopsis.
Another Yellowstone spinoff will also premiere in 2025, although, unlike the prequels, this one currently doesn’t have any Dutton characters slated to appear. Titled The Madison, the upcoming series is a standalone extension of the franchise set in the present day and starring Michelle Pfeiffer and Patrick J. Adams, among others. The logline for the series states that it will be “a heartfelt study of grief and human connection following a New York City family in the Madison River valley of central Montana.”
Yellowstone is available to stream on Peacock, while the prequel spinoffs are on Paramount+.
