Fans Shocked After ‘1923’ Season 2 Just Reveal a Huge Character Fate
Granted, 1923 Season 2 isn’t off to the best start. However, it might be worth hanging around – a major character spoiler has been revealed for a future episode.
We’re only two episodes in to the Yellowstone spinoff and complaints are rolling in thick and fast. On top of “ridiculous” storylines, fans think the action that does work is happening too slowly.
Not a great continuation of the Dutton family legacy, then. Or is it? A Taylor Sheridan show always delivers the drama in some way, shape, or form, so it stands to reason we’re being kept waiting for the punches to hit.
Thankfully, there’s now evidence to think this is true. If you scour the internet hard enough, you’ll see a whammy of a spoiler for an upcoming 1923 Season 2 episode.
1923 Season 2 Episode 7 reveals an older version of Spencer
If you’ve watched the trailer for Season 2 Episode 3, you’ll know there’s speculation Spencer Dutton is going to be killed off in his “last journey.” However, you can breathe a sigh of relief – the IMDB page for Season 2 Episode 7 confirms Gerard Sanders plays ‘1969 Spencer.’

Stating the obvious, this means Spencer lives until at least the late 1960s, over 40 years after the current TV show is set. In family tree terms, this also means Spencer was alive at the same time as one John Dutton III, who was born in 1956.
There’s good reason to have been speculating on Spencer’s fate though. Alongside our upcoming “last journey” plot in Episode 3 – which could merely be him spending the rest of his life in Montana – his time with Alexandra is somewhat on a timescale.
In Season 1, it was made clear the couple’s life together was limited, with Alexandra telling him life is fleeting and they cannot waste a moment of it. Of course, they’ve since got married and Alexandra is pregnant, and Spencer’s got himself helping out the mafia in Texas. Oops.
In fact, the Galveston mafia syndicate is one of the “ridiculous” plots that has people riled in the first place. “Like, what next? He gets captured by the Yakuza? All he had to do was say ‘Listen, when we get to your cousins place, all I want in exchange for saving your life, is safe passage to a goddamn train station.’ That would’ve taken two minutes. End scene,” one fan wrote.

Of course, if Spencer lives to a ripe old age, that certainly means he’s free from their clutches – we just have to be patient. For actor Brandon Sklenar, he’s always known how Spencer’s journey in 1923 Season 2 would end.
“It was one of the most beautiful things I’ve ever read in my life, truly,” he told The Hollywood Reporter about filming the Season 2 finale. Fans will have to wait until Season 2 Episode 7 for more on Spencer’s future.
