Yellowstone Fans Blindsided By Kayce & Monica’s Big News
Monica & Kayce Spinoff CONFIRMED?! Kelsey Asbille Spills the Tea!
The end of Kayce and Monica Dutton.. or is it?
The series finale of the hit Paramount series Yellowstone kicks off this Sunday evening, and fans have been waiting since January of 2023 to get the second half of Season 5… so to say it’s highly-anticipated would be an understatement.
Fans will finally learn the future of the Dutton Ranch, and one couple in particular will have a storyline to watch. Kacye, played by Luke Grimes, and Monica, played by Kelsey Asbille, have been pretty ride or die throughout the show, and have maintained a pretty strong marriage up until this point, especially considering everything they’ve been through.
They have a son, Tate, who some fans speculate might end up taking over the ranch one day, and while a lot fans haven’t always loved Monica, I am definitely interested to see how their story ends in the big finale.
In an interview with Entertainment Tonight, Kelsey, who plays Monica, revealed that “there is an ending for them,” but of course, that’s all she could really say in terms of not giving any further details:
“There is an ending for them… there’s just an ending, I guess. This is really Luke’s season, especially, he’s just great in it, and I feel very proud and I can’t wait to see him shine.”
She also explained that she thinks Monica’s character has always been focused on her family, and the idea of future generations prospering, which is probably why there’s been conflict between her and some of the Dutton’s at times:
“I think it’s always been just a fierce devotion to family. Monica is someone who I think despite all she has been through, she does, she really believes that the world is good. And for her, it’s about ensuring that their family, her son and future generations, will survive and prosper… if they do survive, they’ll prosper.”
And when asked, Monica said she would be “in” on a Monica-Kayce spinoff show, which has been rumored along with characters Rip Wheeler (Cole Hauser) and Beth Dutton (Kelly Reilly):
“Of course, yeah. I love, love these people so dearly that yeah, I’m in.”
I’m not usually in favor of continuing a show past a certain point, because they usually start to go downhill, but the Yellowstone ending feels abrupt and I’m not done with it yet, so this would be ideal in my humble opinion.
Kelsey also said they were all “ugly crying” after filming the last episode, and she called it a very “special day,” saying we’ll soon all find out why:
“Taylor, he did direct our last episode, which was very special and very fitting. Yeah, I think he’s given us such a gift with the show, so we’re very grateful to him. So it was a perfect ending in that way too.
I think the last time you see those characters is a day that I will never forget… it was the most special day, and I think when you see it you’ll know why. Yeah, I wold say we all ugly cried. it’ just incredibly emotional.
It’s and you just wanna remember every minute of it. Luke said I kept saying, ‘Oh shoot,’ I meant to say ‘I don’t know how to do this without you,’ I think I said, ‘I don’t know how to live without you.’ So it was a mess, but in that way, the show means so much, so much to me.”
Thankfully, we only have to wait a few more days to at least start to see how the story unfolds… you can watch the full interview here:
